After the success of last year's bilingual Nepali-English newspaper, the first edition of our new weekly newspaper, the News & Mail, has repeated the trick.

This week we have bilingual news again, with English and Nepali versions side by side, on page six of the News & Mail.

Playing a waiting game

The Home Office decision following the outcome of the Judicial Review on Gurkha Settlement was deferred by three months and the announcement on policy review will now be made in three weeks time, as quoted by the Home Office.

Gurkhas discharged prior to 1 July 1997 wait with optimism that the review will grant them the same right for settlement, denied by the standing policy.

An introduction

This blog is by and about Nepalese people in this area - by far the largest ethnic minority group in the north-east part of Hampshire.

There are an estimated 7,000 Nepalese people living here, mainly, but not exclusively, former Gurkhas and their families.
