Jury duty and a groin injury

I’ve been on jury duty since I last wrote and that’s been dragging on a little bit, as has my groin injury. It’s been frustrating for me on the sidelines and it brought back a few bad memories of last year’s injury.

I think I will always have a bit of a weakness in the groin, but it’s on the mend now and I was on the bench for the game at Soham after full training in the week.

Back to winning ways

It was nice to get back to winning ways on Saturday with a pretty comfortable victory over Marlow.

I think a lot of people have commented that it had the feel of a pre-season friendly, but really the early goal killed off any aspirations Marlow had to win the game. After that we moved the ball around well, and we got a few goals which was the main thing to come out of it. We could have had a few more, but we were happy enough. We got a decent enough draw out of it as well, so we can’t complain.

Dropping points

It’s a bit of a different feel to my last column, and to be honest it’s been a funny period.

Things haven’t gone to plan for us at all, and that’s all come off the back of what was probably our best performance of the season at Eastleigh. Since then we have dropped a lot of points in the league, and that has been a frustration to all of us, even though we are still sitting top of the league.

Not fond of Banbury

Well, another action-packed fortnight of the season has come and gone and thrown into the mix was a rare thing called a defeat.

But I’ll start both positively and chronologically with the win at Banbury.

Best ever start to a season

Welcome to this week’s column, one that I write once again on the back of successive victories. It is unquestionably the best start I have ever had as a player and long may it continue.

Looking back to the Gloucester City game and I felt it was the most exciting of the season so far. I have to say the visiting fans’ vociferous support created a good atmosphere.

Top of the league

So, we sit in the now somewhat familiar position at the top of the league. I think all in all we can class the past four games as pleasing without being spectacular.

The result at Tiverton was impressive considering the debacle of a journey down. One of the plasma TVs on the coach wall nearly decapitated Scotty before we had even got to the roundabout at Cherrywood Road, and the journey home wasn't without its moments either.

Welcome back

Welcome readers both new and old to my first column of the new season.

Once again I'll be bringing a little insight to the goings on and thoughts from within the dressing room, and my own take on current footballing events.
